Join Community Energy London and the APPG on Community Energy on Thursday 16th March from 5-7pm in the House of Commons to launch our Vision for Community Energy in London.

Community energy action is growing at pace across the city, supported through the Mayor’s London Community Energy Fund (LCEF) and an increasing number of programmes and funds being introduced by individual London boroughs. The sector is also seeing an increase in the number of groups and people who want to get involved to create their own local community energy project. A map of projects in place can be seen here – projects can be identified by borough and ward.

In collaboration with the All Party Parliaments Group (APPG) on Community Energy, on Thursday 16th March at 5pm in the Jubilee Room, CEL will be launching a study and vision for 1,000 community energy projects to be in place in London by the end of the decade (an approximate six-fold increase of where we are now).

Our draft agenda is:

  • 5pm – Welcome from APPG Community Energy Chair, David Johnston MP
  • Syed Ahmed, Chair of Community Energy London (CEL) – Launch of Vision for Community Energy in London
  • Tim Minshall, CEL Project Officer – Launch of Community Energy London Potential Map
  • Tanuja Pandit, Power Up North London (PUNL) – Why Community Energy Works in London
  • Cllr Mete Coban, MBE, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, Hackney Council – Hackney Community Energy Fund
  • Further speakers TBA
  • 5:45pm – Q&A
  • 6:15pm Reception
  • 7pm – Close

This will be the start of a major campaign to further boost community energy across the capital so hopefully you can attend!
