I’m Olawale Ajibola (he/him), south London born, a LB Newham resident since
1990 and one of a group of 5 Newham resident volunteers that helped in the creation of Community Energy Newham in July 2023 and immediately became a director and ever since.
Community Energy Newham (CEN) is a Community Benefit Society and is part of the Repowering London affiliated community energy set-up which has brought community-owned solar energy to Newham, working directly with and for residents to drive action on climate change as well as create locally owned assets across the borough.
I’m motivated to become a Community Energy London (CEL) director because the CEL ‘aims/objectives’ are similar to those of CEN which are creating a fair energy system, reducing fuel poverty, fighting climate change crisis effects and help setup locally-owned & democratically-led renewable energy generator assets. This fosters the creation of strong/resilient local communities hopefully all over the Greater London area.
