Today the Mayor of London launched the pilot phase of the Greener Schools’ Programme, which provides funding for the installation of solar PV on qualifying London schools. This initial round provided £2.9 million of funding in December 2024, which the Mayor says has leveraged a further £9.6 million through boroughs delivering additional investment. Boroughs were encouraged to partner with community energy groups to help the development of these community solar projects. CEL will be liaising with the GLA to better understand what groups have been successful in partnership with councils under the Greener Schools programme.
