Barnet Council in collaboration with Community Energy London (CEL) is to run a series of four capacity-raising events in July 2024 exploring routes to support the growth of community energy action across the borough.

Community Energy London’s Potential Map has identified 574 community buildings in Barnet. Matching these sites with the Greater London Authority’s (GLA) London Solar Opportunity Map indicates that 53MW of solar PV capacity could be realised on the roofs of these buildings.

The first three of these events will be held online and the fourth will be a site visit to a community energy project in Muswell Hill. The three online webinars will cover:

  • An Introduction to Community Energy
  • Developing a Community Solar Project
  • Community-led Energy Efficiency &  Retrofit

Though these webinars are principally aimed at supporting community energy development in the London Borough of Barnet, they will be of interest to all those looking to develop community energy projects and hence all are welcome to attend.
