Climate Ed – the charity providing free climate education to primary schools
During January’s monthly meeting we had a wonderful presentation from Ben Cuddon, the co-founder of the charity Climate Ed which provides free education to children about climate change and carbon literacy.
The presentation is available here.
Teaching climate change is currently not included in the National Curriculum and is usually dependent on individual teachers. However many teachers feel uncertain on how to cover the issue – according to a YouGov Survey from 2019 69% feel there should be more teaching on the topic but 75% feel they haven’t received adequate training.
Climate Ed deliver amazing workshops and assemblies in a fun and engaging way to year 5 and 6 pupils. They have already conducted assemblies to roughly 6,000 students and workshops to 600 pupils.
They are looking to expand – especially in South London, particularly Croydon, Merton, Wandsworth, Lambeth & Southwark so if you have a few spare hours please sign up to volunteer and share with your networks!
Full training is provided and more information is available here.
If you are a teacher, parent/carer or anyone with links to primary schools please tell them about Climate Ed as well.
