London Community Energy Fund round #3!

Applications for the third round of the Mayor’s London Community Energy Fund are now open.

Community groups can apply for grants of up to £15,000 towards the development of community energy projects in London.

The London Community Energy Fund (LCEF) aims to help community energy groups overcome challenges they experience in realising projects. This increases the number of community energy projects and the positive impact for London. The objective is to support projects that save carbon, increase the amount of renewable energy generation in London, as well as reduce energy demand. The first phase of the fund launched in October 2017 and focused on solar energy, in line with the Mayor’s ambitions in his Solar Action Plan.

The second phase, which launched in August 2018, had two application routes: a fast track one for community solar projects looking to benefit from the Feed-in Tariff before its withdrawal, and a competitive one for a broader scope of projects, encompassing clean energy generation, energy efficiency and energy demand reduction.

So far LCEF has provided funding to 31 community energy projects, being led by 17 different community groups. Once delivered, the fund will have enabled over 1.4MW of solar capacity in London.

Deadline for applications is Monday 9 September at 5pm.
