Community Energy London (CEL) is a Community Benefit Society, established in 2017, to support new and existing London community energy groups through hosting regular events, sharing best practice and capacity raising, securing resources and raising the profile of the sector. Our belief is that community energy groups are stronger when working together. We have been holding monthly meetings since 2017.
Join CEL for our Annual Conference!
Community Energy Now! Powering Up London will build on discussions that came out across four events held in June 2025, during London Climate Action Week (LCAW2025), which highlighted the significant progress made by community energy groups in North, East, South and West London – and which also set out the significant potential for growth if supportive policies were further developed for community energy.
The conference comes at an important moment for London community energy groups with current work underway including:
- Phase 2 of the Mayor of London’s Community Energy Task Force
- The commissioning of two research projects by London Councils’ Community Energy Working Group
- Work by Government and GB Energy in preparing a Local Power Plan which “will work with local communities to empower people to generate their own energy”.
