Membership Categories and Subscriptions

Please fill out the form below to submit your application for membership, which will then be reviewed by our Directors. As a Community Benefit Society (CBS) with the standard one-member-one-vote each member group is issued one share at the nominal value of £1 upon membership. To find out more about membership subscriptions (payable from your second year of membership onwards), click the dropdowns for each membership category.

Best for new and existing community energy enterprises which are primarily focused on renewable energy generation, energy efficiency, retrofit, fuel poverty, or other energy related activities.

Membership prices are tiered by organisation turnover:

Less than £50,000 = £25/year

£50,000-100,000 = £150/year

£100,000-250,000 = £300/year

£250,000-500,000 = £500/year

£500,000-£1,000,000 = £1,000/year

Best for voluntary, community sector organisations that have a primary focus which is not energy related. For example, a church, or food bank, which is interested in community energy.

Community Groups are encouraged to support CEL’s work with a suggested annual membership subscription of £25 and above.

CEL is working with an increasing number of London boroughs to support their policies and programmes promoting the wider uptake of community energy action in their areas. We welcome applications from councils who are interested in developing their community energy initiatives and wish to support CEL’s activities.

Subscriptions are set at £1,000 however this payment level is open for discussion at the Board’s discretion.

Businesses and other organisations who are aligned with CEL’s aims and wish to support the work of community energy groups in London are welcome to join CEL as a Supporter.

Subscriptions are set at £500 for charities and third sector organisations and £1,000 for for-profit companies

All Supporter applications are subject to CEL Board approval and these payment levels are open for discussion at the Board’s discretion.
